Privacy Policy
The Midnight Chapter is a small business based in Toronto, Ontario. We take your privacy seriously and collect only what we need. This policy is written in the spirit of Canada's privacy law, PIPEDA.
Who's responsible: the owner of The Midnight Chapter is responsible for how we handle your personal information. Contact: hello@themidnightchapter.ca.
What we collect, and why
| What | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Your name, email and shipping address | When you check out | To process, ship and contact you about your order |
| Payment details | When you check out | Handled entirely by Stripe, our payment processor. We never see or store your full card number. |
| Your email address, and when and how you agreed | When you join our email list | To send you the emails you asked for, and to keep a record of your consent as Canada's anti-spam law requires |
| Your cart contents | While you shop | Saved in your own browser so your cart survives a page refresh. It isn't sent to us until you check out. |
Who we share it with Only the services needed to run the shop: Stripe (payments and order details), Cloudflare (website hosting and storing the email list) the courier that delivers your parcel (your name and address) and, once we send emails to our list, the email service we use to send them. Some of these companies may store data outside Canada, including in the United States.
We never sell or rent your personal information.
How long we keep it Order records are kept as long as needed for accounting and tax purposes (generally up to 7 years in Canada). Email list details are kept until you unsubscribe, and then deleted.
Your choices and rights

Cookies We don't use advertising cookies, tracking cookies or analytics. Your cart is kept in your browser's local storage. Stripe's checkout page sets its own cookies for security and fraud prevention. If any of this changes, we'll update this policy.
