Chapter One

TheNight Court

Moonlit jasmine on a sea breeze, beneath a sky full of stars.

Jasmine · Sea breeze · Starlight

For readers who come alive after dark.

Step out onto a moonlit balcony carved into the mountainside. Far below, a river city glows gold against the dark; above it, a lone peak is crowned by three bright stars. The air drifts up cool and salt-kissed from the sea, and the constellations hang close enough to touch.

Strike the match and jasmine opens first: lush, nocturnal, a flower that only blooms once the sun has gone. A sea breeze sweeps through it, cool against your skin, until the whole room feels like an open window at midnight. As the wooden wick settles into its soft, hearth-like crackle, the scent softens into starlight: airy, luminous and impossibly quiet.

Made for late-night reading marathons and long-awaited returns. Light it as dusk falls, open to page one, and let the world outside disappear.

Chapter Two

TheSpring Court

Sunlit arches, blushing blooms and the golden hush of eternal spring.

Heirloom rose · Coconut nectar · Vanilla bean

For readers who never want the golden hour to end.

Step beneath soaring glass arches into a sunlit manor conservatory. Golden afternoon light pours across moss-draped stone, tall casement windows stand open to the garden air, and the roses outside bloom as though spring will never end.

The scent opens with a silky ribbon of coconut nectar, bright citrus peel and white climbing blossoms drifting in from the grounds. As the wooden wick settles into a gentle, hearthside crackle, the heart unfolds into blushing petals, heirloom rose and warm toasted tonka, like fresh-cut stems arranged through grand, quiet halls. Beneath it all, gilded heartwood and velvety vanilla bean wrap your reading nook in golden-hour calm: a sanctuary where the outside world simply stops moving.

Whether you're returning to the very first chapter or diving into the newest release, light The Spring Court and let eternal spring fill every corner of your room.

The ritual

How to read by candlelight

Clear the nightstand. Silence your phone. Light the wick and let the first burn melt all the way to the edge of the tin; it takes a little patience, and it's worth it. Then open to page one. The wooden wick will crackle softly while you read, like a fire in another room.

FAQ & candle care

How do I care for a wooden wick?

Wooden wicks are a little different from cotton ones. A few minutes of care gives you a steadier flame, a more even melt and the full 20–25 hours.

  1. Trim the wick before every burn. Snip or pinch it to about 3 mm (⅛ in) and brush away any charred bits. A wick that's too long will flicker and smoke; too short and the flame may struggle.
  2. Let the first burn reach a full melt pool. The first time you light it, let the wax melt all the way to the edge of the tin, usually 1–2 hours. This stops the candle "tunnelling" down the middle.
  3. Burn no more than 4 hours at a time. Then blow it out, let it cool completely, and trim the wick before lighting it again.
  4. Never leave a burning candle unattended. Always blow it out before you leave the room or fall asleep, no matter how good the chapter is.
  5. Keep it away from drafts, children and pets. Set it on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from curtains, books and anything that can catch fire.
  6. The tin gets hot. Don't touch or move it while it's lit or while the wax is liquid.
  7. Stop when there's about 1 cm (½ in) of wax left in the bottom of the tin.
  8. Relighting tip: if the wick is hard to light, tilt the tin slightly so the flame catches along the wood, and give it a moment to settle.
What's in the tin?

One 3 oz (85 g) candle made with natural soy wax and a wooden wick, hand-poured in Toronto in a brushed-silver tin with a lid. Each one burns for about 20–25 hours.

How much does a candle cost?

$15 CAD each. Shipping is $10 flat anywhere in Canada, and free on orders of $100 or more before discounts.

What do they smell like?

The Night Court is jasmine, sea breeze and starlight: floral, cool and airy. The Spring Court is heirloom rose and warm vanilla with a bright, coconut-and-citrus opening. Each candle's full scent story is on its chapter of the page.

Why does my candle crackle?

That's the wooden wick. It makes a soft, hearth-like crackle as it burns. It's completely normal.
